First thing to love about Australia and New Zealand--It's warm. When I left my house at the beginning of January it was negative two degrees and my garage door was frozen shut. So yes, a little heat was welcoming.
Next I fell in love with the people. They are astonishingly kind. Like, so kind it's almost shocking. While trying to buy some groceries at a little store in New Zealand we realized they didn't accept cards, and we didn't have cash. We thanked the clerk anyway and left when a stranger insisted on buying our groceries. We protested, but the sweet lady acted like it was nothing and quickly paid for our things. This is one of the many examples when a stranger offered to help us. Hooray for friendly, kind people!
Then there's the beautiful sites and incredible wildlife. If you know me at all, you know how much I love animals. Australia and New Zealand are packed full of exotic animals, and I love how much effort and care they put into protecting their wildlife.
I can't wait to share more of our Australia and New Zealand adventures with you this week. Sorry for my disappearance, hopefully these posts will make up for it. Stay tuned for more posts about wild baby seals, shark infested beaches, chocolate factories, and the Hobbit set!
Okay, so I decided to check out your blog after you commented on my Meeting J.K. Rowling post. Because that moment was flippin' amazing in my life, and I'm glad someone else recognizes that.
ReplyDeleteThen I saw all these pictures of Hobbiton on here. And I've been wanting to go to Australia and New Zealand for years! I love traveling! I totally made an occasion of going to eat at Denny's just so I could get a Hobbit menu.
In short, I think we were destined to find each other's blogs.
Also, I realized I just put that on the wrong post because I'm awesome like that.
